How should an L-1B team document its evidence?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Useful records connect the foreign employment history, the internal knowledge, and the US job that will use it.

Use records from the work itself

Gather employment records showing the qualifying overseas period, then select training logs, internal manuals, product history, project assignments, and supervisor declarations that reveal the claimed knowledge. Hypothetical example: An employee completed years of internal implementation work, but the company only submits a résumé and a broad manager letter. Add dated project materials and a precise explanation of what the person learned through those assignments.

Protect confidential material sensibly while still making the claim understandable. Corporate relationship records need their own folder; do not assume a technical document proves common ownership. Reconcile job titles when a promotion or internal naming change occurred.

Ask the US manager to describe the actual work, not a generic wish list. The aim is a record that lets a reviewer trace each assertion to a responsible source. For every exhibit, record its date, issuing organization, and the statement it is intended to support.

Check names, entities, currency, and dates across the full set before sharing it. A complete original record is generally more useful than a cropped image that removes context. Preserve translations and certification information with the corresponding source document.

For this l1b review, keep that conclusion tied to the documents actually available. Confirm the current procedure before relying on an earlier file or informal description.
