Start with the GOLD CARD eligibility and application overview
Use the official description
Keep a dated copy of the current program page, applicable executive material, and instructions. Third-party summaries can become stale or overstate a benefit. Record exactly what the government says, what it does not say, and which questions still need official clarification. Save the publication date and issuing authority with every official item. If an instruction has changed, preserve both versions and use the current one for the proposed action.
Describe the payment accurately
The relevant payment is made by the applicant to the U.S. government. It is not an equity purchase, a business capitalization, or money provided by the government. The official program materials describe it as a gift, made after vetting and accompanied by a separate non-refundable processing fee of US$15,000 per person; that is the programme’s own terminology and the accurate one. Do not call it a rebate, an investment, or a guaranteed immigration outcome, and read the principal gift amount, the corporate terms and the current fee from the official program page before any money moves. The applicant is the payer and the U.S. government is the recipient; neither a business nor an intermediary receives the payment. Confirm the authorized channel directly from official materials before any funds leave the applicant’s control.
Keep personal records dependable
Passports, civil records, names used over time, addresses, translations, and any required certifications should be organized so that each document can be traced to its issuer. A translation should be accurate and carry the required certification when rules call for it. Check whether each civil record matches the passport name and whether a translation or certification is required by the current procedure. The file must establish identity without an avoidable inconsistency.
Avoid category substitution
Gold Card should not be used as shorthand for EB-5, E-2, an employment petition, or a charitable contribution. Those routes have different legal tests, evidence, and consequences. Compare them only after confirming the current official program details. Do not let a label obscure different consequences: an EB-5 placement carries commercial risk and job requirements, whereas this program description concerns a gift payment. The current official materials must govern any comparison.
