Let’s make your move.
WORK.
BUILD.
BELONG.

Enquiries reaching us from Victoria County come from three kinds of working life. There are people running guest accommodation and the seasonal trade around it, people in the design and land professions that serve building and restoration work, and owners who have built something here and now want a footing in an American market. None of those descriptions appears anywhere in United States immigration law. What the law reads is a passport, a credential, a corporate ownership chain and a bank trail, and it reads each of them separately from the others. Sorting your own facts into those four piles will tell you more than choosing a category ever will.

THERE’S MORE THAN ONE WAY FORWARD.

THE DREAM IS YOURS.
LET’S FIND THE WAY.

An architect finishing the rehabilitation of a nineteenth-century wooden church, a lodge manager who has run the same highland property for eleven seasons, and a distiller with three warehouses of maturing spirit are each looking at a different half of the same body of law. The first is asking whether a listed profession and a matching credential line up. The second is asking whether a company can move a person across a border. The third is asking whether money can be committed, controlled and traced. These six route pages are written so that those three questions never get answered as though they were one.

Before an American offer is accepted

For a Canadian citizen the credential and the description of duties decide almost everything, and both have to be settled before anybody travels.

Selections stay in this page session; no personal documents are collected here.

YOU WEREN’T
MADE TO
THINK SMALL.

Two starting positions cover most of what arrives here. Where somebody else will be paying you, whether a resort group, a design practice or the American affiliate of the firm you already work for, the outcome turns on the citizenship in your passport, the profession your duties genuinely fall into, and what you have actually been doing for the past three years. Where you would rather own the thing you work in, the outcome turns on the origin of the money, the share of the business you will control, and whether anyone outside your own household will draw a wage from it.

Personal support.
A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.

01

Separate the people before you separate the routes

Write one line per traveller: the citizenship printed on that person's passport, their age at the intended date of travel, their marital status where a partner is involved, and what each of them intends to do once across the border. Households routinely assume the principal applicant's outcome settles everybody. It does not, and the exceptions are found at this stage or not at all.

02

Describe the work in verbs

Set the job title aside and write down what a working week actually consists of: what gets designed, surveyed, costed, supervised, sold or served, and roughly what share of the time each activity takes. Employment routes are decided on described duties rather than on the words at the top of an offer letter, and the difficult cases are difficult precisely because those two things do not match.

03

Trace the money and the ownership backwards

Where capital is involved, start at the destination and work back towards the origin: which account the funds would leave, how they arrived in it, what was sold or earned to produce them, and who owns each company in the chain today rather than after some planned restructuring. A gap in that trail is the most frequent reason a sound investment case stalls.

04

Bring the three weakest points, not the whole story

A remote consultation earns its keep when it is spent on the parts you could not answer above. It ought to finish with work assigned rather than categories explained: a letter to request from an employer, a registry document to obtain, a credential to have assessed, a corporate step that has to happen before any filing, or a family member whose own route must be arranged first.

A LITTLE CLARITY GOES A LONG WAY.

YOUR FUTURE.
NOW BOARDING.

These pages are not ranked and none of them is a recommendation. Each one is built on a different situation, whether a lodge manager whose American job description slides between hospitality and general retail management, a restoration company with nobody supervising at the receiving end, or an innkeeper whose purchase price is mostly a building, so that identical federal tests can be watched working on unlike facts. Read whichever sits closest to your own circumstances, then write down every point where your facts part company with the example. Those departures are what an adviser should be handed first.

MUNICIPALITY OF THE COUNTY OF VICTORIA IS HOME. THE WORLD IS OPEN.

SUPPORT THAT REACHES YOU.
A BIGGER HORIZON.

Enquiries from Victoria County are handled remotely by Shneur Herman, Jo Kubti and Alexander Paton. Nothing here is delivered from a local address: there is no office in the county, none anywhere near it, and no in-person appointment available in this area at all. A first conversation is spent sorting facts and marking which of them has no document standing behind it yet. Where a formal filing becomes necessary, a licensed U.S. immigration attorney takes carriage of that filing. What you read on this site is general information about federal requirements rather than legal advice about your own situation.

BEFORE THE BIG MOVE

LET’S CLEAR
A FEW THINGS UP.

The lodge I manage belongs to a group that also owns a resort in New England. Can I transfer there?

Possibly, though not because of the shared ownership by itself. An L-1 petition needs a qualifying relationship between the two entities that corporate records actually establish, both companies doing business regularly rather than merely existing on paper, and one continuous year of your own employment abroad within the three years before filing. That year must also have been spent in a managerial or executive capacity, or working with specialized knowledge of the company's own methods, rather than in general operational work.

I have eighteen years in kitchens and at front desks but no university degree. Does TN reach me?

It may. Hotel Manager is one of the few listed professions with a second branch: a post-secondary diploma or certificate in hotel or restaurant management together with three years of experience in that field. What the branch will not accept is experience standing alone, or a credential earned in an unrelated subject. Most other entries in the schedule require a baccalaureate degree or a particular licence, and no depth of experience substitutes for either.

Could I fund an American purchase by selling land my family has held for three generations?

Yes in principle, provided the sale can be documented from end to end. What gets examined is never the type of asset but the trail behind it: how the property came to be yours, its valuation, the agreement of sale, anything discharged on closing, and the movement of net proceeds through identifiable accounts. Long-held family property often has thin paperwork in its earliest years, so those gaps are worth finding now rather than in the middle of a filing.

Is there anywhere in Victoria County where I could meet one of you?

No. This is a remote-consultation service with no premises in the county and nothing nearby, so every conversation happens by phone, online or through WhatsApp. Shneur Herman, Jo Kubti and Alexander Paton answer enquiries directly, and a licensed U.S. immigration attorney is engaged once a case reaches a formal filing.
