A coherent record can draw on multiple assignments, but it must establish the applicable special or advanced knowledge and its relevance to the proposed role. Project count alone is not the standard. Explain what the employee learned and how the combined experience supports the specific claim.

Use one assignment to show acquisition of knowledge and another to show independent application or responsibility, where those facts are genuine. Do not repeat the same general duty under several project names and call the repetition proof of advanced expertise.
Eligibility turns on four separate findings, and a strong showing on one never rescues a weak showing on another. The petitioner and the foreign employer must stand in a parent, branch, subsidiary or affiliate relationship, and both entities must be actively doing business. The employee must have completed one continuous year of qualifying employment with that group abroad during the three years before the petition is filed. The knowledge itself must be special or advanced knowledge of the organisation’s own product, service, research, equipment, techniques, management or procedures — not a skill the wider labour market also teaches, and not seniority. L-1B status is capped at five years, so eligibility and the length of the plan belong in the same conversation.
Hypothetical example: a hydrophone specialist has eight years with the same group, but spent fourteen of the last thirty-six months seconded to an unrelated contractor. That gap raises an eligibility question about the qualifying year, not a question about how capable the engineer is, and it is answered by payroll and secondment records rather than by adding more project descriptions. The most common eligibility failure is a file that argues expertise loudly and leaves the corporate relationship or the qualifying year to be inferred.
Test each element against a document that already exists before the support letter is drafted. Where an element is genuinely unresolved, record it as unresolved and obtain current qualified advice rather than presenting an assumption as a finding.
